holding feedback to ransom

It seems lately, that the idea of leaving feedback has becomea bone of contention. There are two major parts of a transaction, one being the swift payment for an item by the winning bidder, and then obviously, the despatch of the item by the seller within a reasonable time.

The vendor ,or seller, should upon receiving the payment, leave feedback to inform other members of the ebay community,of how efficient the buyer is in the paying of items. The buyer should then leave the appropriate feeback with regards to the item, dispatch and packing.

However it seems now that some of the higher volume sellers are now refusing to leave feedback until the buyer has left them a positive.

Most of us pay for items bought instantly, so we deserve a positive feedback, so why should we receive a spiteful negative from a seller in revenge when our item turns up broken or not as described ?

We all know that feedback is an important part of ebay, so why should sellers be able hold peoples feedback to ransom like this.?

Maybe now there should be two feedback ratings per member , one on how good a seller you are and one on how good a buyer.

I am often getting emails from sellers stating "leave feedback for me and I will do the same for you". Well, er , NO !! - If you dont play the game properly, well neither will I.
